Bead Weaving Earrings Workshop - CARPINTERIA

$100

Learn a beautifully meditative bead weaving technique lead by professional jewelry maker and teacher, Alix Camp. This workshop is appropriate for all experience levels - though this is detailed work! Please bring your most patient self, as well as your reading glasses to class! This is one of Alix’s most treasured jewelry making methods, she can’t wait to share it with the Heritage community. Once mastered, the delicate, repetitive process is grounding and restorative for the mind. All materials/tools will be provided, and will be yours to keep.

Slowing down with the craft of bead weaving is a way of connecting with our ancestors. Humans have been creating intricate adornments with beads and thread since 1300 BC in ancient Egypt. Probably far before then still. More widely known is the breathtaking beaded stitch work of the Native American people. In this workshop, we will connect with one another, and to those who came before us, simply by sitting, chatting and creating objects with our hands. Experience is $100 per person or sign up with a partner for $180. Includes all materials. Everyone will leave with a kit to complete their pair of earrings and beyond.

When: Saturday, March 22nd from 1-4pm

Instructor: Alix Camp

Location: Heritage Goods & Supply, Carpinteria location

*Note: All workshops are final sale, however, there is a 4 person minimum requirement for this class to proceed. If we do not reach 4 participants we will unfortunately have to cancel the class and refund you in full 48 hours before the scheduled workshop.
