With blazing summer heat fast approaching, strawberry fields will be overflowing in the months to come. Planning a family trip to a local berry farm is likely high on your bucket list this season. But after a day of picking, what will you do with your new goodies? Perhaps bake a strawberry tart? Or add them to a lemonade? How about something a little different...
Homemade strawberry kefir is such a treat. It is one of Emma's son’s favorite breakfast foods. This drink is a play on the classic strawberry milk, with a slightly sweeter twist and healthy probiotics. And it's only made with three ingredients!
You'll need
- 1⁄2 cup fresh strawberries (or frozen, defrosted)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 cup milk kefir
1. Place the strawberries and maple syrup in a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Add the milk kefir and blend again.
3. Drink immediately, or let sit for 2 to 6 more hours to ferment. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
