Our Favorite Apple Crisp Recipe

 

 

For many, fall signifies a time to celebrate the season’s harvest. Cooler nights and days often call us to find more ways to bring warmth into our lives. With apple season in full swing this simple apple crisp is sure to add both a sweet delight and warmth to your daily celebrations. 

 

Flourless Apple crisp

Serves 6

 

Ingredients

Filling

5-6 large apples (peeled, cored and sliced)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon lemon zest

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 tablespoon maple syrup

1 tablespoon ghee or coconut oil

 

Topping

1/2 cup gluten-free oats

1 cup almond flour

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup melted ghee or coconut oil

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

 

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350ºF and lightly grease a 9 x 9 inch baking dish.

 

Make the filling: In a large bowl combine the apples, lemon juice and zest, maple syrup, ghee and cinnamon. Toss to coat apples evenly. Add filling to the greased 9×9 inch baking dish.

 

Make the crumble topping: In a medium bowl, mix the almond flour, oats, cinnamon, nutmeg and sea salt together. Add maple syrup and ghee and mix until well combined.

 

Top the apples evenly with crumble topping and bake until the topping is brown and the fruit is bubbling about 35 to 45 minutes.
